Amruta Salunkhe presented a poster at Neuroscience Day, titled “Human Cell-Based Models of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy to Investigate Paclitaxel-Induced Neuro-Immune Interactions,” hosted by the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University.
Congratulations! Mariam Deme continues her work in the lab as an undergraduate research assistant.

Surith Krishna presented his research at the Neuroscience Research Poster Forum, titled “Nociceptive Neurons Shape Immune Cell Responses in a Drosophila Model of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy,” hosted by the Department of Neuroscience, College of Arts and Sciences, The Ohio State University.
Grace presented the lab’s research, “Transdisciplinary approaches for investigating CIPN,” at the Stefanie Spelman Conference Series for Breast Cancer Research at The Ohio State University, together with Dr. Matt Burford, our collaborator at the CIPN clinic in Neurology at OSU.

The fifth biannual Shin Lab Value meeting took place in February. We added “appreciation” as a lab value during this meeting.
Congratulations! Our CIPN work was featured in the annual department newsletter (click to see the newsletter!). Callie’s quote as well as Amruta’s image were part of the article. Grace was also featured as an emerging young investigator in the newsletter.
Congratulations! Grace was invited as a guest speaker on The Peripheral Nerve Podcast, the official podcast of the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS), to discuss neuroimmune crosstalk and inflammation in CIPN. She served as the organizer and the first speaker on “Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: The Bench to Bedside”, together with Mike Caterina from JHM, Daniella Menichella from Northwestern, Solomon Tesfaye from the UK, and Eleonora Galosi from Italy.

The first Shin Lab Annual Symposium took place over 2 days. We invited Tae Gyu Oh from OU, speaking on multi-omics integration and disease modeling, and Elisabetta Babetto from our own OSU, speaking on Schwann cells and neuron metabolism, as keynote speakers. Everyone in the lab shared their progress and plans, and Grace presented the summary of our progress and vision for the second year.
The second biannual Shin Lab Value Meeting took place at Marcela’s, Short North.
Congratulations! An abstract submitted by Grace and Elliot was selected for a talk at the 8th Axon Degeneration Conference in DC in September 2024. Grace will present the lab’s work in the Axon Degeneration and Disease session. Elliot will join the conference as the first author of the abstract.
